Drivers suffer neck injuries in Bridgeport truck rollover

When people hear about an accident involving a tractor-trailer, often the first inclination is to blame the driver of the truck. After all, drivers of commercial vehicles are legally held to a higher standard of safety than drivers of smaller vehicles. Semi trucks, to be safe, require regular maintenance, and truck drivers must avoid fatigue during long hauls and keep accurate records of their travels. If truck drivers fail to do these things, they may be found guilty of negligence if a crash occurs. If this is the case and you're looking for a leading personal injury attorney in Connecticut D'Amico & Pettinicchi today for a free consultation.
But one recent truck accident in Bridgeport serves as a reminder that truck drivers are not always to blame for accidents involving tractor-trailers. According to police, a semi truck on Interstate 95 was cut off by an SUV, requiring the truck driver to make some quick maneuvers that ultimately caused his vehicle to overturn, backing up traffic for miles on the freeway.
The 27-year-old driver of the SUV was cited for an improper lane change, and he and the 34-year-old driver of the semi had to be taken to the hospital for treatment. They both reportedly suffered neck injuries.
The crash resulted in fuel from the truck being spilled all over the southbound lanes of I-95, and everyone on the road at that time is lucky a fire wasn't ignited.
Since the drivers of both vehicles sustained neck injuries, they could face a long and painful path to recovery. Neck injuries are very common in auto accidents, and when such an injury occurs because of another party's negligence (as appears to be the case here), the victims may be entitled to compensation under Connecticut's personal injury laws. Moreover, medical treatment is extremely expensive, and no victim of negligence deserves to have his or her physical injuries turn into financial ones.
