Hit-and-run accident in Connecticut results in fatality

There are many steps that most Connecticut drivers take to prevent a car accident every time they get in their vehicle. Many of us buckle up, put our phones away and do our best to comply with traffic laws. Despite all these efforts, too many people end up seriously or fatally injured in a car accident because of a negligent or reckless driver.
The fact is that an accident can happen in the blink of an eye. It can seem like one second a person is entering an intersection and the next second he or she is in an ambulance after a horrific crash caused by someone who failed to stop at a stoplight. Tragically, many people are killed in these types of car accidents.
Recently, a Connecticut man was killed after a car ran into him as he was crossing the street. Not only did the reckless driver cause a fatal car accident, but he or she then fled the scene and never took steps to get help for the victim. Police have collected witness statements and are trying to locate the driver responsible for the accident.
The aftermath of an accident can be a frightening and chaotic time, which is why it is against the law for a person to leave the scene of an accident. Leaving the scene of an accident is not only illegal, it can be the difference between life and death for a victim.
Many drivers who leave the scene of an accident often do so because they are not supposed to be behind the wheel at the time. Some of them are drunk and others have had their driving privileges revoked. While they may try to get away with the accident, victims and their families can work with attorneys and authorities to identify the driver and hold him or her accountable for their horrific and devastating actions.
