Nighttime Crash in Connecticut Results in Serious Injuries

There are a number of hazards to look out for any time you get on the road. Drivers need to watch for construction zones, obstacles on the road and, most often, other drivers. During the day, there may be more people on the road and traffic jams during rush hours, but at night there are different concerns.
Night driving can be very dangerous for many reasons. There may be more drivers on the road who are impaired by drugs or alcohol, drowsiness can affect people behind the wheel and it may be difficult for some people to spot certain hazards because of the darkness. Whether any or all of these factors played a role in a recent nighttime car accident in Connecticut remains to be seen, but what is known is that five people were seriously injured in the crash
It was just before midnight when two cars headed towards each other in the dark on Route 66 in Middletown. Both vehicles were being driven by young males who were riding with passengers. As the cars got closer, one of them crossed over the center line just in front of the oncoming vehicle. The two cars smashed into each other head-on.
Five people, including the two drivers and three passengers all between the ages of 18 and 21, were seriously injured in the crash and had to be taken to hospitals to receive immediate medical treatment.
The accident is under investigation and it is likely that authorities will try to determine whether either or both of the drivers was behaving recklessly immediately before the accident. In other head-on collisions that happen during the night, alcohol, drowsiness or distraction is shown to have played a role in the accident. If that is the case in this accident, the injured victims may choose to take legal action against the reckless driver.
