An accident in Norfolk, Connecticut, that occurred near Route 44 on Dec. 30 involved a box truck and an SUV and left one person dead and two others with serious injuries. According to the report, the collision took place at approximately 3:30 p.m. and left Route 44 closed for several hours.
It was not immediately known how the accident happened. A sergeant with the State Police only stated that the box truck and SUV collided. The driver of the SUV was confirmed to have died in the accident while a passenger was transported to a nearby hospital by air after suffering critical injuries. The driver of the box truck was also taken to a hospital to be treated for their injuries. While it was stated that a second helicopter was dispatched to the hospital, the report was not clear if the box truck's driver had to be taken somewhere else after.
At the time the report was released, officers were still investigating the accident. It was reported that a reconstruction team was at the scene before the street reopened at approximately 8 p.m.
Car accidents can have a number of factors. In some instances, road conditions may cause a driver to lose control of their vehicle, causing a collision. In other cases, the driver may be operating their vehicle in a negligent manner. Regardless of the factors involved in the collision, the driver who caused the accident may be held responsible by those who were injured.
Depending upon the circumstances of the accident, those who were injured may be eligible to file a personal injury lawsuit against the driver at-fault, perhaps with the assistance of an injury lawyer. By filing this lawsuit, the injured may be able to seek compensation for any medical bills and lost income that resulted from the crash.
