An early morning accident occurred on the highway resulting in death and injury. The car crash claimed the life of a 23-year-old woman when she was hit by another vehicle. Connecticut authorities are still investigating this accident.
The accident reportedly happened on a recent early Sunday morning. According to reports, a woman parked her vehicle in the right shoulder on the highway for unknown reasons. Another female driver ultimately struck the parked woman and kept on going for a brief moment before she stopped her vehicle in the same lane. Medical personnel arrived at the scene and discovered that the woman suffered serious injuries from the crash and transported her to the hospital. However, the woman succumbed to her injuries and later died.
The female driver was also transported to the hospital for minor injuries and has been released. Authorities are still investigating this matter. It is not known if the female driver will be issued any traffic or criminal citations in this incident.
A car crash can be overwhelming for most residents. It is even more overwhelming when a victim has met an untimely death at the hands of another driver. Depending on the outcome of this continuing investigation, the surviving family members may wish to pursue a wrongful death claim if the female driver is deemed the responsible party. The civil court system in Connecticut may award monetary damages if evidence demonstrates the driver was responsible for the accident and negligence was a casual factor that resulted in death.
