Fatal accidents are emotionally devastating for family members and close loved ones. Authorities are still investigating a crash that killed one person and injured another. The fatal accident occurred on our Connecticut roadways and involved two vehicles in a head-on collision. The cause of the accident has not been released.
Authorities were called out to a catastrophic accident that occurred near an intersection on a recent Thursday afternoon. A preliminary investigation was conducted, and authorities were able to determine that a 65-year-old male driver of a Toyota sedan was traveling along Route 66 when he crashed into another Toyota sedan. The exact details of how the crash unfolded were not reported.
Medical crews arrived at the scene and initially transported the man to Marlborough Medical Center before transferring him to Hartford Hospital where he later died. The driver of the other Toyota sedan reportedly sustained lower body injuries. Authorities are unclear of who the responsible party was.
A fatal accident is very traumatic for surviving family members. Depending on the outcome of this continuing investigation, either of the drivers could be held responsible for the crash. If the deceased driver is determined to be the person responsible, the other driver may have the right to pursue a personal injury claim against his estate. If the other driver is deemed responsible, then the family of the deceased may wish to pursue a wrongful death claim to recoup damages. The civil court system in Connecticut will award damages based upon evidence presented, which proves that the other party acted in a negligent manner that caused or contributed to injury or death.
