The accident happened on a ride called the Rollo Coaster, an old-style wooden roller coaster that does not have seat belts. The ride passed inspection from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture on Aug. 6, but officials are re-examining the ride's inspection history in the wake of the accident.

The ride is closed while the accident is being investigated, according to a spokesman for the state's department of agriculture.

The victim in the accident was conscious and alert after the fall and was airlifted to Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh. The boy's parents have asked that no information be released about his condition, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

Other Amusement Park Accidents in Recent Days

On Monday, there were three more amusement park accidents across the country, including a fatal water slide accident involving a 10-year-old boy at Schlitterbahn water park in Kansas City, Kansas. The boy suffered a fatal neck injury on the Verruckt, the world's tallest water slide.

People ride the water slide while strapped into a raft with two or three other people. But others who rode the slide that day claim that the harnesses were not working properly.

There was another accident in Sandusky, Ohio, at Cedar Point where two people received first aid after a launch cable was disconnected from a roller coaster. The riders received first aid and returned to the park.

In Tennessee, two girls fell off a Ferris wheel at a county fair. A six-year-old suffered a brain injury and is in critical condition while a 16-year-old has improved from critical to stable condition.
