Two people were killed and another was injured in a serious collision on Interstate 91 Friday night.
According to police, a Volkswagen Golf struck the back of a tractor trailer near Exit 24 in Rocky Hill, killing the driver and passenger in the Volkswagen.
Eyewitness accounts of the accident reported that the car was traveling at a high speed when it slammed into the truck, spun out of control and came to a stop on the shoulder of the highway. Reports indicate that the truck was stopped in heavy traffic for a disabled vehicle.
The driver of the truck was not injured in the crash. However, the 29-year-old passenger in the truck was taken to Hartford Hospital to receive medical treatment. The driver and passenger in the car were pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities diverted traffic onto Silas Deane Highway for approximately four hours while the truck crash was investigated.
Filing a Truck Accident Lawsuit
Sadly, many truck accidents result in death as the large size and weight of commercial trucks can lead to devastating injures if involved in a collision with a passenger vehicle.
If you lost a loved one in a truck accident, you may be able to file a personal injury lawsuit to obtain compensation.
While nothing can replace the loss of a loved one, compensation from a truck accident lawsuit can help your family cope with the effects of losing a loved one, from lost financial support to the loss of companionship and guidance.
A successful lawsuit can also provide compensation for funeral expenses and medical expenses prior to a loved one's death.
